Acoustic Guitar Strings

Acoustic Guitar Strings

The steel-string acoustic guitar is a modern evolution of the gut-strung Romantic guitar, and produces a brighter, more resonant sound.  Similar in shape to the modern classical guitar, it is often simply referred to as an acoustic guitar or sometimes as a folk guitar.

The most prevalent type is commonly known as a flat top guitar, distinguished from more specialized variations like the archtop guitar.  Standard tuning for an acoustic guitar is E-A-D-G-B-e (low to high). However, many players, particularly fingerpickers, explore alternate tunings (scordatura) such as open G (D-G-D-G-B-D), open D (D-A-D-F♯-A-D), drop D (D-A-D-G-B-E), or D-A-D-G-A-D (common in folk music).

Complete sets of acoustic guitar strings are listed by manufacturer in the sections below.  Individual acoustic guitar strings can be found in the Single Strings section.
