Erhu Strings

The erhu, a traditional Chinese two-stringed bowed musical instrument, is sometimes referred to as the Southern Fiddle. Also known in the Western world as the Chinese violin or Chinese two-stringed fiddle, its versatility allows it to be played as a solo instrument, in small ensembles, and in large orchestras. Among the huqin family of traditional bowed string instruments used by different ethnic groups in China, the erhu stands out as the most popular.

Its adaptability makes the erhu suitable for both traditional and contemporary musical settings, including pop, rock, and jazz arrangements.  The Erhu is sometimes categorized as a spike fiddle.
