Each Half Roundâ string starts as an oversized precision round wound string and is centerless ground to a smooth, precise final diameter. With a tone between their round wound and flat wound peers, D'Addario Half Roundsâ offer the advantages of a smooth exterior string (reducing finger noise and fret wear) while maintaining some of the brightness of a round wound string."

ENR72's combine the playability of a 50-105 set with the benefits of an exclusive "Half Round" manufacturing process. This set is fit for long scale basses with a string scale length of up to 36 1/4 inches.

D'Addario Half Round bass strings are wound with pure nickel, then precision ground, leaving the outer surface smooth and semi-flat while retaining the flexibility of round wound strings. D'Addario's exclusive heat treating process ensures that Half Rounds retain their round wound brightness and sustain.

Coined the “third type of string,” XL Half Rounds bass strings are an excellent medium between round wound and flat wound strings. Half Rounds have a smoother feel than round wound strings, but a fuller tone than strings that are flat wound. Made with a high carbon steel core and pure nickel wrap wire, they’re finished with a precision grinding process to provide a smooth feel and reduced finger noise, with tone that's comparable to round wound bass strings. This 50-105 Medium set has a higher tension, affording increased low-end response and output.
