Mandobass Strings
The Mandobass stands as the largest and least common member within the mandolin family, occasionally employed as the bass instrument in mandolin orchestras. Its size is such that players typically hold it upright like a double bass, supported by an endpin resting on the floor. A full-size Mandobass boasts a neck-scale length similar to that of a standard orchestral double bass viol, approximately 43 inches (110 cm).
In other aspects, the Mandobass resembles its smaller, higher-pitched counterparts within the mandolin family, featuring a fretted neck, a headstock equipped with geared tuning machines, and a hollow resonating body, often fashioned like that of a mandolin, though not always.
