SUPER-SENSITIVE STRINGS

On January 7, 2021, D'Addario announced the acquisition of Super-Sensitive Musical String Company, a brand with roots dating back to the 1930s. This acquisition expands D'Addario's offerings for educators and students, particularly with the renowned Red Label brand.

D'Addario plans to preserve the legacy of Super-Sensitive Strings by maintaining the quality and integrity of its products. Production will transition to Farmingdale, New York, ensuring continued availability and expanding global distribution.

D'Addario's President & CEO, John D'Addario III, emphasized their commitment to honoring Red Label's industry impact while integrating the brand into their orchestral lineup. Founded in 1930 by Ed Wackerle, Super-Sensitive has long been a favorite among educators and students.

The company has introduced popular lines like Old Fiddler, Supreme, and Pinnacle, and has a strong tradition of supporting music education. Jim Cavanaugh, whose family owned the company since 1967, expressed confidence in D'Addario's ability to build on Super-Sensitive's legacy.
